艾克納函數是{{le|大氣模型|atmospheric model}}中重要的參數，可以視為是[[無因次化]]的[[氣壓]]，定義如下：

: <math>\Pi = \left( \frac{p}{p_0} \right)^{R_d/c_p} = \frac{T}{\theta} </math>

其中
:<math>p_0</math>為地表气压，一般定義為100[[帕斯卡]]
:<math>R_d</math>為濕空氣的[[氣體常數]]
:<math>c_p</math>為濕空氣的定壓[[熱容]]
:<math>T</math>為[[絶對溫度]]
:<math>\theta</math>為[[位溫]]
