伞形酸是[[苯丙素类]]化合物[[伞形酮]][[生物合成]]的[[前体]]物质，其合成起始于[[莽草酸途径]]合成的[[苯丙氨酸|<small>L</small>-苯丙氨酸]]。苯丙氨酸[[脱氨]]形成[[肉桂酸]]，再通过[[肉桂酸-4-羟化酶]]（CYP73A1）[[羟基化]]形成[[对香豆酸]]。[[对香豆酸]]的2号位再次羟基化形成伞形酸，最后[[羧基]]与2号位的[[羟基]]酯化形成[[内酯]]结构的[[伞形酮]]。
